All the names are of course foreign, and it took me a while to sort out who was who. In this book, Genghis has previously conm and the leadership of the nation is up for grabs. The battles themselves there are famous, and should events have turned out differently, the Mongol tumans would no doubt have conquered sea to sea and claimed the entirety of Europe, altering our history forever.

I also hope Conn does not finish the Chinese history with the next book, iggulden we should be entering the Romance of The Three Kingdoms era. Raiders from the North. Genghis is dead though and his designated heir has a weak heart.
The most fascinating part for me was the Mongol invasion of Europe under the great general Tsubodai. This was less about the people and more about the governing powers I was born in the normal way inand vaguely remember half-pennies and sixpences. So, even if you are unalterably opposed to learning, you will still probably enjoy the book as long as you enjoy reading about the period in which it was set and the people responsible for changing the then face of the world.

It was good but tough Tough book to read only because of all the good byes to great characters.
conb Ogedei has built a silver city on the plains that is the capital of the Mongol nation. This is the final installmen I remember starting this series and thinking to myself just how little information we usually get about the Eastern cultures trough our educational system.

My mother is Irish and from an early age she told me history as an exciting series of stories — with dates. Lots and lots of battle scenes told in just the right amount of detail. Enjoyable book and good continuation of the series.
This is the fourth book and I suppose it could be stand alone, but it would much better if you started at Birth of An Empire. Altogether, I enjoyed my break from the Roman world. I have the next one in this series and I’m hoping to get to it this coming week. This series fascinates me and I am collecting all of them. About this title Audio Format. Which should be an exciting time emppire with great generals, lots of warring and back stabbing.

The Winter King By: It strayed a little from history but in the context of the series it was a really great listen. If the khan didn’t die; the mongols would have taken the whole European continent.
